RAYCO TILE ADHESIVE HEAVY DUTY is a gray cementitious powder specially formulated formulated to be mixed with water to produce a tile adhesive with high bonding strength. It is a high-quality tile adhesive recommended for the permanent fixing of porous to low porous tiles for floor and wall tiling applications.
SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be sound and thoroughly clean before Rayco Tile Adhesive Heavy Duty is applied. Laitance, oil, grease, mould release agents or curing compound must be removed from the concrete surface using a wire brush, scabbler, or other suitable mechanical methods. Rayco Tile Adhesive Heavy Duty can be applied directly on concrete, cement creeds, cement or lime mortars. It is advisable to allow creeds and renders to cure for at least 7 days. Tiles should not be placed on concrete or block work until all shrinkage movement has taken place.
MIXING
Pour 5.0-6 liters of water into a clean container. Slowly add 25 kg of Rayco Tile Adhesive Heavy Duty and mix with a slow speed
mechanical mixer until homogeneous and lump-free paste is obtained. Allow the mix to stand for 5 minutes and re–stir before use.
Application
Rayco Tile Adhesive Heavy Duty is spread on the substrate to a uniform thickness. The correct notched trowel size to use will depend on the type and size of the tiles. Lay the tiles onto the adhesive and ensure that a firm pressure is applied to achieve good contact with the adhesive. Apply adhesive only to areas that can be tiled within the product’s open time. Careful checks have to be made to ensure that skinning does not occur on the surface of the adhesive before laying the tiles. If a skinning has occurred, rework the adhesive before laying the tiles. Remove excess adhesive with a damp cloth before material has set. After setting, cleaning becomes very difficult but can usually be helped by mechanical means.
